Journalist
I’m a Chicago-based journalist who has covered business, advertising, technology, events, and music as a writer, editor, photographer and critic. My work has appeared worldwide in more than 100 publications, Web sites, etc.
Currently the research director at Crain’s Chicago Business, I oversee the Crain’s list franchise including the Best Places to Work in Chicago, Fast 50 and the Book of Lists.
An innovator in online journalism since launching one of the first 1,000 sites on the Web in March 1994, I’ve produced many firsts for Crain’s including Google Maps integration, Caspio-powered databases, Gigapan imaging, automated data uploading, ArcGIS projects, and integrated multimedia storytelling projects like the award-winning multi-media project for our MarketFacts section.
Recent industry awards include: Society for American Business Editors and Writers “Best in Business” awards; a silver award from the Association of Area Business Publications; Best overall data product and most created data project from DataJoe; Finalist for Best Interactive Project from the Chicago chapter of the Society for Professional Journalists.
I am a graduate of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
