As the 2010 U.S. Census continues its release of critical data, Matt Carmichael will continue parsing it out for brands and agencies helping to break down what the numbers mean for marketing.
Matt Carmichael has spent the last 15 years finding award-winning stories in numbers in features such as the Web Price Index in Advertising Age's sister publication BtoB, to the annual Book of Lists compendium and Market Facts at Crain's Chicago Business to Ad Age's new Ad Age Stat blog and Market Finder.
While the Census and Bureau of Labor Statistics provide key data for quantitativel decision making, Matt looks beyond the usual providers to ferret out unique and specialized datasets, and sources that might otherwise slip below the radar. In addition, he talks to a wide range of thought leaders from marketing and beyond to bring new voices to the research conversation.
As the Director of data strategy at Ad Age, Matt is charged with generating new data products as well as covering the latest data and research in consumer trends and marketing.
Once he has the data, he works with his graphics team to create the proper visuals, tell the stories through multiple media and leverage social media to draw new audiences to the work.
His writing tells the story by the numbers, but also the businesses and personalities behind the facts and figures.
